5 Signs That Spring is in the Air – High Five for Friday #14

“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”

― Rainer Maria Rilke

Hello and welcome to the spring edition of High Five For Friday. Today, I am going to present you 5 signs that let you know that spring is in the air:

1. It is warm enough for a mountain bike tour

High Five For Friday - Mountain Bike Tour

Last Friday afternoon we decided to do our first mountain bike tour of the year! As I am usually lacking condition after the winter break, we normally start very slow and only go to the neighboring village which is 5km away. That makes 10km for the round trip which is certainly enough to begin with! Most of the roads are flat with only a few and not too steep uphill situation – perfect to get into biking again!

2. You can watch a football game in the stadium without freezing

High Five For Friday - Football

The week before last weekend, I was actually afraid that we would freeze to death in the stadium as the weather did not look promising with everything covered in snow… But then, it changed back to spring temperatures and we had the loveliest weather ever the day we went to the stadium! I had a fantastic time and am very grateful that I had the chance to do this!

3. You can finally wear summer shoes again

High Five For Friday - Tamaris Shoes

I love these new shoes that I already got a while ago from Tamaris but have not been able to wear them due to the cold temperatures. This week was their first outing and I am still in love as they are extremely comfortable!

4. You can make cakes with fresh berries

High Five For Friday - Creme Fraiche Raspberry Cake

Even though, berries do not grow here in Germany yet, we can still get them for a reasonable price in our local supermarkets. They are imported from Spain and already taste delicious!! Last Sunday, I made this yummy créme fraîche raspberry cake (another easy and great recipe from the Zucker, Zimt und Liebe baking book). I made it for our swiss visitors who came along for a quick visit on their way home to Switzerland.

5. You can sit on the balcony at night and drink cocktails

High Five For Friday - Cocktails

This is what I love most about spring and summer: The possibility to sit outside on the balcony in the evenings and until late in the night. Of course, at some point, you will have to wear a light jacket but it is still great! We usually have a glass of wine or have a barbecue outside. Wednesday night, we had some delicious cocktails while enjoying a mild evening!

Weekend Preview:

This weekend, we do not have that many plans. There is going to be a party in our village tomorrow night which we are going to attend but apart from that it will probably just be house planning stuff (we are starting the renovation in less than a month!!!!) and preparation for our upcoming trips to Prague and South Tyrol.

I am also very much looking forward to my Sunday Recipe Link-UpThis week, I am going to share the recipe for my very own creation of Pizza Muffins. Here is a little preview of what will await you:

  1. You’re sharing so many lovely things again today Jana! Love the shoes, the cake AND the cocktail, obviously! I really look forward your pizza muffins recipe, it looks like a great solution for a quick weeknight diner. Happy Friday and have a nice weekend! :)

    • It is perfect for finger food to serve when guests are around, too and it makes a great dinner if you have it with a salad!!! I made the dough myself but you can easily use pizza dough you can buy in the supermarket… Wishing you a great weekend as well!!!
