This time of the year, it’s all about the food and the drinks, isn’t it? This past week has been a blast and a huge feast and it will just continue like this until the end of the year! That is what I love so much about the Christmas time! But let me tell you more about it with the help of some pictures I took:
1. Visitors and some lovely guest presents
Our guests from the UK arrived on Friday night and brought a bag full of gifts. Seriously, I have no idea how they managed to put all their luggage for one weekend into their hand luggage bags AND squeeze in these amazing gifts! One of the gifts was this awesome metal box of a variety of different english teas! Well, as a tea lover, what can I say? It is THE best gift for me EVER!!!
2. Christmas market hopping
It has evolved into kind of a tradition that my friends from the UK come over to Germany at the end of November / beginning of December to visit some of the Christmas markets around us, drink hot Glühwein (mulled wine) and eat chocolate covered fruits... This year, we have been to a very traditional Christmas market in Bad Hindelang, a modern Christmas market in Kempten (picture above) and a medieval Christmas market in Esslingen. We had the best food and the yummiest Glühwein!!! This weekend was amazing and I was so happy to see my friends again!!! Next time it will probably be around our wedding next June and it will also be the first time for them to see Germany in summer…
3. Frozen Fog
I am sorry guys but I cannot get over this!!! Have you EVER seen frozen fog??? It was such a stunning thing that kept my mouth open for about 5 minutes… (and then I managed to finally get my camera out to take pictures!!!)
4. Waiting for Christmas
I don’t know about you but when it comes to Christmas, I am turning into a little kid! Every year, I have several advent calendars. That is why I was so happy when I found a new one in the mail last weekend. It was a Just t advent calendar beautifully decorated with ornaments and colorful Christmas tea packaging! I am going to give you a full report on the different teas I tried this week during the weekend (yes, before Christmas, I am making a no-posting-on-weekends-policy exception…)
5. Christmas bakery
Yesterday, I went a bit crazy on the Christmas baking side… Wednesday night, I prepared the dough and as I had no idea for how many gingerbread men the dough would last, I made twice the amount of what was stated in the recipe. Just in case, you know… Well, I guess, it was A TINY BIT too much dough in the end as I spent 3 hours baking 47(!) gingerbread men and a whole bunch of gingerbread stars. Today, the muscles around my stomach are sore from rolling out the dough… I should take this as a sign telling me to exercise more as rolling out dough cannot be the only activity I have in a week!!! For those who are interested, I am going to share the recipe next Tuesday!
Another weekend is approaching quickly and as there is no free weekend left anymore until the end of the year, we are going to the Lake of Constance again to visit some friends, have a massive feast tonight and heading to the Christmas market tomorrow to enjoy some more Glühwein and other lovely things!
