High Five For Friday #44 – Vienna Edition

High Five For Friday at Tea Time Blog

Weekends are for travel! Weekends are to explore the world! Weekends are to get to know foreign places!

And that my friends is exactly what I have been doing this past weekend! I have been to Vienna with my Spanish friend from the UK and it was a blast! Vienna is one of the greatest cities in Europe. It is a fantastic mixture of new and old, it combines historic places with new and modern things and don’t even get me started on the food…

To honor this amazing city, I’ve decided to devote today’s High Five For Friday Post to it:

1. Hello Stranger

Tea Time Blog - High Five For Friday - Vienna - 25Hours Hotel

Vienna has been a new and strange place for us just as much as we were strangers for this city. I love this moment when you arrive some place new and there are all these amazing things ahead of you that you’ve seen in the travel guide and are yet to be explored!

2. Amazing Tea Selection at 25Hours Hotel

We stayed at the 25Hours Hotel and let me tell you: It was amazing! As they say about themselves, they are all mad there! What is not mad but wonderful is their great tea selection during breakfast! I picked the Inner Light one and it was delicious! Having a day starting with a good cup (or in this case pot) of tea can only be a good day!

3. Sacher Tarte

High Five For Friday - Vienna - Sachertarte

One of the most famous things in Vienna or Austria is probably the Sacher Tarte. There was no questioning about if we would try it but we were not sure where to get it. After a little bit of research and after talking to various people, we found THE place to go for Sacher Tarte in Vienna. It is not, as you would imagine, the Sacher Café but the Demel Café which is right around the corner from Stephansdom. This cake is simply an explosion of chocolate in your mouth. The spongy base is delish but nothing compared to the yummy and thick cholocate top layer!!!

4. The State Opera House

High Five For Friday - Vienna - Opera House

I am not a massive classic fan when it comes to music but I love beautiful architecture and therefore, going to see the State Opera House was amazing! During our 45 minute tour, we learned sooooo much and saw some of the finest architectural designs… There is a blog post with more details and a lot of pictures on my travel blog about the opera house already (it is in German right now but will soon be translated into English…).

5. Fun Fair Fun at Prater

High Five For Friday - Vienna - Prater

On Sunday, we spend a great amount of time at the Prater in Vienna which is like a huge fun fair area with old fashioned carrousels and a big ferris wheel. Unfortunately, the weather was not as great as we have hoped for but we still had a great time!!!

Weekend Preview

This weekend, unfortunately, we won’t be traveling. We have been away all these past weekends! October was totally a month of traveling! Now, we need to spend some time on our new home as well as there are still so many things to do! Our highlight this weekend is probably going out to celebrate the engagement with two dear friends from Switzerland tonight! Tomorrow, we’ll have family around for cake and a friend is coming for dinner. As you can see, loads of delicious eating lies ahead of us… Follow me on Instagram for instant moments.

  1. My week was great and I hope the same for my weekend. Although it will probably be mostly work, I am really excited about it. Weirdly excited about work. :)
