It’s the second Christmas day here in Germany right now and as you are reading this, Christian is clearing the road and walkways around our house from the snow as we had the first real snow of the year last night. My last week has been pretty great (how couldn’t it have been considering that I had the full week off from work!!!). I have not written a single word towards my ebook and I have not knitted… and even though, I wanted to read this Ken Follett book, I have not started yet (I read some other books though…). Here you can find a full list of my Christmas holiday plans.
But now, lets talk about my five highlights of this week:
1. Best friend came for a quick Christmas visit
Last weekend, we were happy to welcome my best friend and her husband-to-be who both live in the UK and came over to Germany to celebrate Christmas with her parents. Before they went to her hometown in Northern Germany, they came to our place for a quick two days stop an we had a GREAT time!!! On Sunday, we went up the Pfänder mountain in Austria and enjoyed some spectacular views!!! It was lovely seeing them again as the last time was in January. Next year is going to be an incredible year for both of us as we are both getting married to the man of our life!!!
2. Last time at the Christmas market
While our friends from the UK were here, we hit the Christmas markets one last time for this year. They do not have a real German Christmas market over there and they wanted to real experience so we went and had some Glühwein, apple rings, chocolate covered fruits and loads of delicious other things! I am a bit sad that the Christmas market season is already over… We’ve actually been to 6 different Christmas markets and it was GREAT!!!
3. Berry Liqueur
For Christmas, I also made some homemade gifts and one of them was berry liqueur which tastes amazing! It is great to have it with sparking wine or just as it is. We’ve kept one bottle for us to enjoy later on but this makes a great Christmas present!!!
4. Merry Christmas
We celebrated Christmas with Christian’s family this year. It was very different from the Christmas experience I usually get at home and I really liked it! It was a great evening with no arguments or fighting and we came home pretty relaxed and stuffed with good food!!! I hope your Christmas was just as good.
5. First real snow
Today in the morning when we woke up, we found our house surrounded by snow and as I decided that I am going to like winter and snow now, I tried to be happy about it and appreciate it! I managed quite well so far and am very proud of myself! I have not been outside though but only prepared a yummy snow/Christmas breakfast for us, my parents and my great-aunt who arrived yesterday.
This weekend is not going to be THAT exciting. My parents and great-aunt will stay here until Sunday midday and we are not going to do much rather than eating or drinking. I am going to try and write some parts of my ebook or at least get the structure ready AND I am definitely going to finish knitting this hat for Christian!!! What about you? What are your weekend plans?
Monday, we will be off to my hometown to celebrate New Year’s with my friends from up there which we also did last year and which was great!!!
This was my last High Five For Friday Post for the year and I am VERY proud of myself that I managed to keep this series running for the whole year!!!! To be continued in 2015…
