Happy New Year everybody!!! One year of High Five For Friday is over and I like it so much that I am going to continue this year as well! The last week was all about snow, friends and new year’s celebrations. I loved that I had the chance to celebrate the start of the new year with my beloved friends from my hometown! Here is a little wrap up of recent happenings for you:
1. A lot of snow
On the second Christmas day we were hit by a snow storm that did not stop until the day before New Year’s Eve. We have not seen the outcome of the last two days as we have left to go to my hometown for the start of the new year but we’ve seen pictures and it is A LOT of snow. I am not sure, if I still like it when we get back. Temperatures also dropped to -20°C… Anyhow, last week, I really liked it. We even build a snowman!!! But more about that next week.
2. Being back in my hometown for the New Year
We went to my hometown on Monday to celebrate New Year’s Eve with my friends. On Tuesday, we could still enjoy a bit of the Christmas spirit of my hometown. The mascot of the city of Hamm is the elephant called Maxi as we have the biggest elephant out of glass in my hometown and it is located in a park called Maximilian Park. Decorating our elephants all around town for the various seasons is a business taken very seriously!!!
3. Finishing 2014 in style
For the New Year’s eve celebrations, we went to a friend’s house where we had delicious food and played funny drinking games like Looping Louis and Boom Boom Balloon while watching typical German New Year’s stuff on TV. Unfortunately, I felt sick most of the night and started the new year completely sober but it was still great to have all my friends around!
When we played the drinking games, one thing we had was jelly-vodka shots. It was a lot of fun and very tasty with all the cream on top of it…
4. Fortune Cookies
One of my friends brought fortune cookies to the party which we opened right before midnight to see what the fortune had planned for us for the upcoming year. I really liked mine as it motivated me a lot to jump straight into my various projects I have planned for the new year!!!
5. Happy New Year
At midnight, it was time to go outside and watch the fireworks! In Germany, it is allowed to have your own fireworks in front of your house so my friends where shooting rackets into the sky for a little while and we felt all really happy! I was glad that I was with my friends and had Christian around. I could not have wished for anything else (apart from not feeling sick…)
We will be going back home tomorrow to enjoy the last few days of our holidays to the fullest. We really wanna start with all the projects we have planned for 2015 and I still have a long to do list for the Christmas holidays. I am going to show you some snow pictures on my Instagram account so make sure you follow me there.
