This past week has been very stressful and exhausting once again and I was lacking at lot of sleep! Together with the horrible hangover I had last Saturday, I was not feeling very well… hence the absence here on the blog for quite a few days… But I am fresh and relaxed now and back to share my High Five For Friday post:
1. Spoiling Myself With a Yummy Dinner
After the penalty kick competition (which we lost, unfortunately…), we had a massive hangover (we certainly won the category “Best drinkers of the night”…) and what better way is there to cure a hangover than spoiling yourself with a homemade burger and fries? That is exactly how we spent our Saturday night last week…
2. Coffee the First
I really like coffee but I should not have more than one per day as it is making me hyperactive… the caffeine does some weird things with my body and people get a bit annoyed of me when I had too much coffee.. this week, however, I was feeling so tired all the time, I needed more than a coffee a day. I had it in all shapes and sizes: To go, in a beautiful mug with a biscotti, ice coffee… yeah, I really liked my coffee this week!
3. Coffee the Second
We had a very short night between Monday and Tuesday as Germany was playing against Algeria in the eighth final of the football world cup. This game went on forever and it only started at 10 at night due to the time difference between Germany and Brazil… at least it was worth it as we won in the end but the first half of the game was the worst I have ever seen from our team! I really do hope that they are playing better tonight when they are playing against France in the quarter final…
4. The 1001 Books Challenge
I started the first book for the 1001 Books reading challenge that I mentioned last Friday. I am actually surprised about how much I like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. I am reading the book in German as I am way too tired most of the time to concentrate on english literature (I am guessing as this is not a chick lit book, the language will be a bit more difficult to understand…). I am a bit terrified by the Huxley’s version of the world but also fascinated. It is an utopia and I wish we had read this one in school when we were discussing utopias in my high school english class… Have you ever read Brave New World? How did you like it?
5. Bathroom Make-over
Our new home is finally shaping up! The thing I like the most at the moment is how our new bathroom is coming along considering the VERY ugly orange flower tiles and the bright orange massive shower. We are away from being done but I can see how it will come out in the end and I like it a lot! What do you think?
This weekend, I am planning to finally give you the update on the snacks, Christian’s sister made for her mother’s birthday party. Also, we are going to a local street festival in the town next to our village. There is a band playing there which we like to book for our wedding and I can’t wait to see them play. The rest of the weekend, we will be spending on the house renovation… 1 month left to go and we plan to make it in time!!!
