This week, I used my macro lens a lot as I was focusing on working on my macro photography skills. You can take the most amazing pictures with these kind of lenses! It is fun to see more on a picture than you can see with your eyes…
I have the macro lens for a while now but did not use it too much so far. One shot I did with it was the one of the butterfly last year in South Tyrol. For this exercise, I simply used a cactus that we have at home:
With a macro lens, it is very easy to get a nice bokeh as you can select a much higher aperture value compared to other lenses. This one, for instance, was taken with an aperture value of f/2.8. My other lenses can only reach values of f/4.5 and it makes a huge difference.
I tried to get a bit closer every time I took a picture to show even more details of the cactus. I was impressed how close I could actually go and still get a very clear picture…
I have never seen the beauty of a cactus before in my life as I never really paid attention to the details. Macro photography helps A LOT to pay more attention to the details! My most favorite picture is this one:
The focus is great even though, it is not as close up as the picture before. But the light turned out great, too, don’t you think?
Have you ever tried Macro Photography? What did you like most about it?
I really like link parties and as I am hosting my own for recipes on Sundays from now on, I would also like to take part in the Photography Friday hosted by Jess from This Analog Adventure. But as I am doing the High Five For Friday on Fridays, I am sharing my Photo-Post on a Saturday today but will post it on Thursdays going forward.
