Project 52 #7: Ice on the Road

This morning was truly beautiful as it was sunny and icy at the same time, so I grabbed my camera and went out to take a shot of the ice.

That wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. While the ice structure looks very beautiful when you just look at it, it is still transparent and therefore hard to capture it on a picture. There are all these things that influence the outcome of the picture: The sun and its reflection and, of course, what is in the background or right behind/underneath the ice and  I gave my very best and here is the result:

Project 52 #7: Ice

I am sure, I can do better than this but have not found the right camera settings for this yet… Can anybody give me any tips on how to improve pictures of ice?

Unfortunately, the weather changed when I came home and it is all back to grey and almost rainy again… I am glad that I got up early enough to take the picture.

I really like link parties and I would  like to take part in the Photography Friday hosted by Jess from This Analog Adventure. But as I am doing the High Five For Friday on Fridays, I am sharing my Photo-Post on Thursdays going forward. Please join the fun of link parties. I am excited to see your best pictures of the week!

    • Thanks a lot! Yeah, the structure of the ice is amazing! I could spend ours just looking at it and that is why I desperately wanted to capture it on a picture!!! :-)

  2. I think this is a great picture. Ice is a tough one. I wish I could give you some tips but I live in Florida and we hardly ever get ice here.

Have a fabulous day. PS – I found you through Find Beauty Friday

    • Oh wow! Florida!!! Even though you do not get that much ice and snow, I am sure you have other great things like the ocean etc… to take pictures of…

  3. Gorgeous shot! I love how it turned out. I’ve never even tried to photograph Ice before so I don’t really have any tips…I tend to just go by trial and error, haha. Thanks so much for sharing!
