The issue of tea bags is something I always wanted to share with you. Before I lived in the UK, tea bags always looked the same to me. There was a bag that contained tea and it had a string and a little paper tag:
But then, I came to the UK and something was different with their tea bags. The first time, I bought tea and opened the box, I was surprised to actually only find a tea bag… no string, no tag…
All those two years I’ve lived over there, I never figured out why they do not attach strings because it just makes life so much easier! With a string you can easily drag the tea bag out of the hot water and enjoy your tea.
With the English tea bags on the other hand, you have to use a spoon and you are not able to squeeze the tea bag so that it is not dripping water once you’ve pulled it out of the water. If there is a string you can easily wrap it around the tea bag and the spoon in order to squeeze the bag against the spoon. This way, you squeeze all the water out of it and nothing will drop onto you surroundings.
Also, doesn’t a tea bag with a string and the little tag just looks nicer? On top of that it allows you to mix all the tea bags in one box and you still know exactly which tea bag contains which tea. With the english version, you just HAVE to keep the box that the tea bags came in so that you can distinguish them.
What do you think? Does this bother you?
