Thursday Thoughts #3: Being Consistent

I can’t believe it is Thursday yet again! How can time pass so so quickly??? We are almost at the end of June again which means there is only one month left for our renovation before we have to move out of our apartment – What a scary thought considering that it does not yet look livable at all…

But today is not the time to talk about that but to continue my Thursday Thoughts series:

Being Consistent

In the past, I have been struggling a lot with consistency. I usually got pretty excited about something when I started it but over time, I lost interest or was not able to make sufficient time for something. And eventually, I dropped the thing all together to start something new very euphorically.

This year, I made a promise to myself at the beginning of the year: I will be more consistent with the things I start. Tea Time Blog is the best example. In the past, there were always times I posted a lot but then, I found myself without ideas and not posting for a longer period. At the beginning of the year, I decided to be more consistent here and post on a regular basis. I started posting every single day. Soon, I realized that this sometimes is not possible because life is in the way. But I always make sure that there are at least three posts every week which is certainly doable! Now, exactly half a year later, I am proud to say that I managed to do that!

How did I manage to be more consistent on my blog?

Well, at the beginning of the year, I asked myself what the reason for my regular absence here was and figured out that it wasn’t a lack of interest but rather a lack of ideas about what to write. I had many ideas in my head but when I finally sat down in front of the computer, they were simply gone. Now, I am keeping a blog calendar. I write down all the topics in there that I want to write about in the future. I write them down for a specific date, note when I am going to write the particular post and where and when to share it. This system has been working fantastically for me over the last few months.

Also, I started certain series like the Tree Projectthe High Five For Friday series, the Sunday Recipe Link-Up and lately, the Thursday Thoughts series. All this helps me to stay more consistent.

In terms of Social Media, I set certain reminders in my calendar that helps me work on Social Media for a certain time each day and not to forget about it. With Instagram, I also joined a challenge which proofed to be great fun: The #1picaday Challenge which I have been doing since the beginning of the year.

There are other areas in life, too that I am being more consistent in this year. I am taking my spanish studies more seriously and have been working a lot for my own business. I am trying to set some time for all these things each day and with a little bit of planning, it is certainly doable!

Which areas in life do you want to be more consistent? What helps you to stay consistent?

  1. I definitely struggle to stay consistent in my blogging and I think it’s because I find myself so all over the place with what I want to talk about. I love sharing recipes and house updates just as much as I love sharing personal stories so it’s hard for me to find a balance.

    • Hi Heather, Thanks for stopping by! In that case, I guess a blogging calendar would help you a lot. If you have it as a monthly or weekly overview, you can see directly if there is a balance between different topics or not. What also helped me was setting specific days of the week for certain topics (recipes on Sundays, Thoughts on Thursday, Tree Project on Monday…)
