It was Christian’s birthday yesterday and due to the fact that we spent so much money on renovations this year and need to save up money for our wedding next year, we agreed that we would not give us a lot for our birthdays and for Christmas. Of course, we still wanted to give each other presents but we are trying to focus on stuff that does not cost a lot and is still worth a bit. This is how we ended up with a very colorful birthday in the end!
For his birthday celebrations yesterday, I made a delicious birthday cake. I found a great recipe on the Pink-e-Pank blog the other day (sorry that it is only available in German…) and I just had to try it! It was a lot of work as I had to bake all of the individual layers separately. Here is the amazing and very colorful result:
Just a tip: If you decide to bake a cake like this one, I would do it the day before the birthday and have it in the fridge over night as the colors get even more intense this way. Also, I added a bit of lemon juice to the cream so that it would not be too sweet. It also tasted a bit fruitier this way.
It is going to be very hard to find a recipe that can beat this cake next year!!! Do you have any great recommendations?
Have you ever made a colorful birthday cake? What is your most favorite recipe?
Again, I wish a very Happy Birthday to my one and only big love!!! I am so proud to being your fiancée!!!
